Shotei Gallery - Sales Gallery - Item Detail

Inventory #:
10066
Title:
Colt and Mare
Artist:
Noda Sonan
Description:
With a casual look, this print may look simplistic, but it's not. It's very difficult for a printer to get such a solid, uniform, opaque covering over a wide area. There are 2 different whites at play in this print. Most of it is the unprinted paper showing through, but there is also a white highlight block that was printed in a bright opaque white over the black background.

I have another print for sale based on the same design, but produced from a different set of blocks. Have a look at inventory number 10069.

I believe that the horse prints from Kyoto Hanga-In are priced in the marketplace much lower than their intrinsic value. This print is a bargain!

The "Shinagawa" seal of the publisher has been applied under the artist's seal.
