Twilight in Imamiya Street, Choshi
Ishiwata Koitsu (1897-1987)
A beautiful sunset street scene in Choshi, Chiba prefecture. This print has overhead telephone lines, which is rare to see in shin hanga
designs. The underlying theme of nostalgia usually caused the trappings of modernization to be omitted.
It's hard for me to say it, but this print would look nice framed on someone's wall. Because of condition issues, it has virtually no value as a collectible, just decorative value. It is priced accordingly.
shin hanga landscape print
36.0 x 23.9 cm (14.2 x 9.4 inches)
January, 1932. Not necessarily the date that this copy was printed.
female figure, male figure, street scene, sunset/rise
(1.0 / 5.0) - Badly toned to the point of being brittle. Handling this print is apt to damage it. Fade line close to margin borders, but color is not too bad. I've got this print stored in a thick plastic sleeve for protection. It's very fragile.

I bought this print on ebay in 2003. It came framed. When I took the frame apart, I found that it had been backed with cardboard, hence the bad toning.
